Happy Monday, 4th Graders!

Check-in for the day here:

*You can also check-in by going to your google classroom or clicking this link.

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and got outside a little bit in the BEAUTIFUL weather. This week we will be having school Monday - Thursday there will be no school on Friday or next Monday. You will notice this in your packet as there are no assignments for Friday. However, I still kept the inventive Friday in your packet for fun; you do not have to do this it is just an option if you are looking for something to do. Packet pickup will still be next Monday, even though there is no school.

MATH:

Mrs. Baumann is now doing all the math. If you have any questions please contact her through Google Hangouts or email. (leah.baumann@isd505.org)

READING:

For reading today you need to complete the "Let's Learn It" Week 1 Monday section -- don't lose this sheet as you will need it for Tuesday as well. This looks a little different than your "Daily Reading Ready", but essentially it is the same thing. Next, you will need to find the "Lawn Boy" book in your packet. For the rest of the school year, we will be reading "Lawn Boy" in reading. Your job today is to complete the "Before Reading" sheet in your packet as well as the "Dictionary Detective" sheet.

Materials that need to be sent back:

  • "Let's Learn It"

  • "Dictionary Detective" worksheet

  • "Before Reading" worksheet

SPELLING:

** It has been brought to my attention that DAY 2 on the "Word Work" sheet does not match the words. You can go ahead and cross out Day 2 for that page. Sorry about that!

Today for spelling, you will need to look over all your spelling words. Once you have become familiar with the spelling words, you will need to complete "Day 1" and "Day 2" on the "Word Work" sheet. On this worksheet, you will need to sort the words by syllables and then sort the words by the vowel sound; hint hint...look at where the vowel is placed in the word.

What needs to come back:

  • "Word Work" worksheet "Day 1" & "Day 2"

SCIENCE:

Today for science you will need to read the "Diagram, Oil, Gas, & Coal, Oh My" text. Then you will find the "Activity Sheet 2 Making of Goal" in your packet and draw pictures that go with the different steps of making coal.

What needs to come back:

  • "Activity Sheet 2"

Once you have completed all your tasks for the day, take a nice break and listen to a chapter from Wonder if you wish, remember, you can find this above on the "read aloud" tab. Also, don't forget to do your P.E. and/or Music assignments for the week.

YAY! You are done for the day. I knew you could do it! I am so proud of all your hard work and accomplishments...I will meet you back here tomorrow to discuss what to do then. Until then, go play and get some fresh air.

See you tomorrow,

Mrs.Brake

INVENTIVE FRIDAYS:

On Fridays, we are going to be doing something new. We are introducing something called inventive Fridays. On Fridays every week you are going to be getting a sheet of paper that says what your task is and any materials that you may need that you might not have at home. This week your task is to try and build a boat using only one sheet of paper. I have included a blue sheet of paper for you to use. When you finish as your parent to send me a picture of you and your boat (optional) and I will post your pictures so everyone can see your AWESOME inventions! Get your brains thinking and GOOD LUCK!

FOR ALL MY ART LOVERS:

Every Friday Dave Pilkey (the illustrator of Dog Man & Captain Underpants books) is doing videos on how to draw different book characters, sneak peeks from books and creative activities. Check it out!

Congratulations, 4th graders! You have made it through another week of distance learning. You have accomplished so much in one week. Now take some time over the weekend to rest and relax. Remember, keep helping around the house too.

Please do not forget that your music and P.E sheets need to come back in your packets as well as all your other papers. Don't forget about those two things!

Have an exciting weekend,

Mrs. Brake
